Of all the things that can make us sad or even broken, the loss of peace is the one that haunts us most. The loss of peace is a never ending cycle of grief and mourning, a never ending battle between what we hold dear and what we do not. In this quote, Beethoven alludes to this same theme, but with a more personal twist. When he says that there is no peace, he means that there is no peace for him personally.

That he has found peace, but lost it again. It is a constant reminder that everything we love must be lost at some point. It reminds us not to take for granted what we have when it is gone.
